Opportunity description
UNV offers a volunteer opportunity in Iraq to work as an operations and finance assistant for a period of 4 months with the possibility of extension. Timely and appropriate planning and management of administrative activities and tasks is a pre-condition for the successful implementation of the Stabilization Pillar activities. So, you should be able to learn and willing to take your own initiative to get the quality of the work performed and achieve results.
Duties & responsibilities
- Working together with the Stabilization Pillar team, develop an overview of multi-year cost projections, to support resource mobilization efforts.
- Work closely with the Programme & Operations Officer to prepare Multiyear/ Annual work plans/budgets.
- Ensuring compliance with the cost-sharing agreements.
- Prepare regular periodic analyses, and forecasts, to present to the Programme & Operations Officer, to enable timely decision-making. Based on analyses, if required prepare budget revisions, and ensure accurate reflection in Quantum.
- Support the Preparation and administration of MTST and prepare the budgets in full compliance of UNDP rules, regulations, policies, and recording and reporting systems.
- Provide support to create projects in the Quantum system, support in the preparation of budget revisions, revise project awards and status; and determine unutilized funds.
- Support implementation and maintenance of control mechanisms for development projects through monitoring budget preparation and modifications and budgetary status.
- Provide financial support to the MTST team and Programme Team.
- Monitor the setup of budgets in Quantum to ensure they are in accordance with budgets agreed with donors and are input into QUANTUM at the detailed Activity ID level.
- Monitor the financial status under the guidance of the program and Operations officer.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting and Finance, Business or Public Administration, Economics.
- 1 year of experience in the national and/or international level in or other relevant programs.
- Experience with agencies at finance and administration positions, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organizations.
- Ability to deal successfully with high volumes of workload.
- Working knowledge of oral and written skills in English.
- Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment.
- Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet.
- Communication, flexibility, and ability to work with tight deadlines.
Please note: Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment and aged 18 - 80.
