Morrab Library is accepting Patricia Eschen Prize for Poetry 2022. The 2022 competition does not have a theme – poems can be on any subject that kindles your imagination, to a maximum line length of 40 lines for each poem.
The competition is open to international entries, entry is free and limited to one poem per individual. Poems must be written in the English language.
Benefits
The prize money (Adult’s competition -1st prize: £1000; 2nd prize: £500; 3rd prize: £300.
Children’s competition: 1st prize: £150; 2nd prize: £100: 3rd prize: £50) will be paid to the winners by 30th November 2022.
Eligibility criteria
- Morrab Library must receive poems entered for the Patricia Eschen prize for Poetry 2022 by Friday 30th September 2022 at 23:59pm (GMT).
- The Adult’s competition is open to anyone aged 16 or over at the time of entering. The Children’s competition is open to anyone under the age of 16 at the time of entering.
- International entries are welcome.
- The poem must be the entrant’s original work and must not have been previously published, broadcasted or accepted for publication by a magazine (including online) and must not have been a winner in a previous competition.
- The entrant can submit ONE poem ONLY to the competition.
- The length of the entrant’s poem must not exceed 40 lines.
- The poem must be in the English language.
- All entries are judged anonymously. The entrant’s name must NOT appear in the poem or anywhere in the document name. The entrant must provide their contact details (name, email address and telephone number) in the body of the email when submitting their entry, OR include these details on a separate page if submitting a printed entry via post or in-person.
- Alterations CANNOT be made to poems once submitted.
- Copyright remains with the author, but The Myner Trust and Morrab Library reserve the right to have entries performed on the radio, TV, or stage, published on the internet, shared on social media, published in a book or used for publicity purposes at any stage in the future.
