* Please note this is a FREE opportunity with no application or processing fees. A monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of MAD 18,450.83, plus entry/exit lump sums of USD 350/USD 120 per month served, health insurance, and other benefits are provided.
Duties & responsibilities
Act as the primary point of contact for UN-Habitat with key Moroccan government entities (e.g., Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Energy Transition).
Proactively monitor and ensure compliance with national waste management strategies and environmental regulations.
Identify, evaluate, and pursue new Waste-to-Energy (WtE) project opportunities and municipal tenders.
Develop and execute the local market entry strategy aligned with sustainability objectives.
Coordinate with technical and financial teams to tailor proposals to Moroccan and Tunisian waste characteristics and energy grid requirements.
Support pre-feasibility, feasibility, and waste audits in Morocco and Tunisia by liaising with consultants and the government.
Eligibility criteria
Must be a national, legal resident, or hold refugee status in Morocco.
Hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Project Management, International Development, Development Finance, Engineering, Urban Planning, or related areas.
Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in senior leadership, business development, or government relations, with at least 5 years dedicated to the Moroccan infrastructure, energy, or waste management sectors.
Fluent in French and English (Required); fluent in Arabic is an asset (Desirable).
Strong foundational understanding of the Waste-to-Energy (WtE) value chain and associated environmental compliance.
Proven track record of successful engagement and negotiation with high-level Moroccan governmental bodies.
