Samira El Khalil Award for Female Directors and a Chance to Win 5,000 euros

Samira Al-Khalil Association is pleased to announce the 2022-2023 Samira al-Khalil Prize, to honor a woman filmmaker and/or video director. The Samira al-Khalil Prize is intended to reward, once a year, a woman whose practice and trajectory are in solidarity with the struggle to put an end to the infringement of fundamental rights and freedoms in the Arab and Mediterranean regions. Each year, the call for applications will highlight a specific practice in a diverse range of fields: arts, literature, and defense of human rights (such as translation, painting, writing, activism, research, etc.).

If you win this competition, you will have:

• A sum of 5,000 euros.
• Chance to will be publicized as widely as possible within the framework of the association's activities. 
• Benefit, if she wishes, from facilitated access to feminist networks and possible training courses implemented by them.

You should follow the following criteria:

• Applications are open to any woman of at least 18 years of age.
• A new jury will be formed each year according to the discipline being honored.
• Only 1 application per year is possible. 
• A laureate cannot receive the award more than once.
• Shortlisted candidates will be informed at the end of September each year.

Please note: This prize should be seen as an encouragement to continue the laureate’s efforts for better representation, all over the world, of women's actions and their struggles in the Arab and Mediterranean regions.
