Opportunity description

The United Nations Development Program of Assistance to the Palestinian People (UNDP PAPP) is seeking 10 National UN Volunteers to serve as Site Engineers in Gaza. For a duration of 6 months (with the possibility of extension), the volunteers will manage the daily implementation of the Rubble Removal and Debris Management project, facilitating safer access, humanitarian support, and early recovery activities.


Please note this is a FREE opportunity with no application or processing fees. As an onsite, paid National assignment, it provides a monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of IL 6251, health insurance, and an exit allowance for satisfactory service.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Perform daily supervision tasks for calculating material quantities at various sites and factories throughout the Gaza Strip.

  • Support field activities related to the Rubble Removal and Debris Management Project, including transferring, sorting, and crushing materials.

  • Assist in preparing reports and coordinating with the procurement team to secure necessary materials for ongoing site activities.

  • Maintain a proper filing system for all site-related documents to ensure successful material control and document the lifecycle of contracts.

  • Re-measure implemented quantities on-site to facilitate accurate payments to contractors.

  • Follow up on implementation schedules, material testing, approvals, and inspect material submittals.

Eligibility criteria

  • Must be a national, legal resident, or hold refugee status in the State of Palestine.

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional work experience in the design, coordination, and supervision of infrastructure projects.

  • Native proficiency in Arabic and a working knowledge of English (Required).

  • Experience working with the UN or other international development organizations is an asset.
