Opportunity description

UNV offers a volunteer opportunity in Egypt and announces its need for the efforts of one volunteer to work as a technical specialist starting from 01/01/2024 for 6 months with the possibility of extension. The technical specialist will be part of the women’s health team in the EMRO responsible for leading and advancing the women’s health agenda in the Eastern Mediterranean region.

Duties & responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Contribute to capacity-building efforts targeting different stakeholders in areas related to women’s health including but not limited to midwifery and maternal mortality reduction and surveillance.
  • Follow up on the implementation of the women’s health program activities and monitor budget utilization.
  • Support program management and implementation of activities aiming at rolling out the women’s health model in the EMR.
  • Contribute to developing publications for promoting the comprehensive approach to addressing women’s health issues in the EMR in stable and fragile settings.
  • In partnership with the different units in EMRO and regional stakeholders, promote and support the introduction of a women’s health comprehensive approach at the country level as well as through supporting the regional women’s health working group.
  • Contribute to identifying opportunities and developing conceptual frameworks for cross-thematic collaboration in areas that constitute a priority from women’s health perspective e.g. smoking, climate change, and humanitarian programming and response.
  • Contribute to organizing experience-sharing and south-south exchange activities.
  • Contribute to resource mobilization activities and the development of project proposals reflecting women’s health priorities at country and regional levels.

Eligibility criteria

You must have:

  • Master's degree or equivalent in Public health with a special focus on maternal/women’s health.
  • 4 years of experience in Experience in managing maternal/reproductive health and development programs.
  • Expertise in Business Management, Crisis, and emergency response, Health.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility, and Client Orientation.
  • Commitment to Continuous Learning.
  • Communication, Self-Management, and Working in Teams.
  • Fluent in the English language.
  • Arabic, Level: Working knowledge.

Please note: Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment and aged 27 - 80.
