Freemuse is offering the Small Changes Project that aims at expanding cultural space by making available platforms, tools, and resources for independent and creative minds to step forward and use culture and art to engage with what is going on in the world.
Building on the need for expanding cultural spaces, the Small Changes Project has initiated a grant of up to CHF 1,000 and six months in Lebanon, Jordan, and Tunisia for projects serving this objective and bridging the cultural gap.
Fifteen institutions, organizations, collectives, or individuals in the field of arts and culture will benefit from this grant as well as platforms, tools, and resources for independent and creative minds.
5 projects will be selected per country to be implemented within a 6-month period.
The projects’ objective is to explore the role of art and culture in peacebuilding.
Applicants are encouraged to propose project activities aimed at exploring the role of art and culture in peacebuilding and what could be art and culture’s role in changing attitudes and behaviors in violent settings and how this project will contribute positively to social change such as expanding cultural spaces, bridging a cultural gap, promoting peace, artistic freedom, freedom of expression, the right of association so on.
The project will respond to the question: “How can you use art and culture to transform the world?”
Benefits
The applicant may be supported with up to Euro 900 and has six months to implement his project.
Eligibility criteria
Any registered or unregistered institutional, cooperative, collective, or individual working in the field of culture and the arts in Lebanon, Jordan, or Tunisia and in any artistic or cultural field may apply. The applicant should be ready to submit a video log of their work and be willing to communicate regularly with the Freemuse project officer.
Grantees are expected to work on their projects in their country of residence (Lebanon, Jordan, and Tunisia) over a period of 6 months. The grant may be used to begin a new project or to complete work on an existing project.
Grantees are expected to submit 3 videos per project about the process of their work answering specific questions, themes set by the project representative.
Grantees will have monthly scheduled online meetings with a project representative throughout the grant period to discuss their projects. A project representative will evaluate progress according to the benchmark grantees set in their implementation plans.
