Opportunity description
United Nations Volunteers programme is offering a volunteer opportunity in Lebanon as a Communication Specialist.
Duration:
12 months (with possibility of extension)
Duties & responsibilities
- Develop a quarterly, external communications plan outlining priorities, target audiences, communication channels, and objectives.
- Produce and curate effective content for IOM Lebanon’s social media.
- Write, design, and produce creative and compelling communication material tailored for a variety of audiences.
- Collaborate with project staff, including consultants and other external stakeholders to ensure IOM communications are available in relevant languages and meet project needs.
- Create designated space on the IOM Lebanon SharePoint page to support related communications, updates.
- Represent IOM in relevant IOM and UN working groups and ensure meaningful engagement.
- Build and maintain strong media relationships with the press to raise IOM Lebanon’s profile
- Successfully pitch stories in high profile media and promote content in social media.
- Co-develop and conduct communications trainings for program staff as needed.
- Undertake duty travels as and when required.
- Undertake any other duties as may be assigned.
Eligibility criteria
- Age: 27 - 80
- Nationality: Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment.
- Required experience: 3 years of experience in developing communication strategies.
- Area(s) of expertise: Communication
- Languages:
- English, Level: Fluent, Required
- Arabic, Level: Fluent, Required
- French, Level: Working knowledge, Desirable
- Required education level: Bachelor degree or equivalent in communications, Journalism, International Relations or a related field from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience.
