Opportunity description

UN Volunteers platform is offering an online volunteer opportunity, as Environmental Governance Programme EGP seeks technical support from 1-2 UN Online Volunteer(s) with experience in video production & editing to help produce a Video Series about Participatory Environmental Monitoring, composed of five thematic videos of 9-10 minutes of length each.

The EGP is working with Source International, UNDP and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency to produce a guide about community-based environmental monitoring of mining activities, which will incentivize and support the establishment of environmental monitoring committees in communities impacted by mining activities.

Volunteer duration and working hours:

11-20 hours per week for 3 weeks.

Duties & responsibilities

The tasks are:

  • insert captions in English, Spanish, Mongolian and Russian;
  • cut and edit a number of video interviews already recorded on Zoom to produce the five final thematic videos;
  • design and include cover for each of the five videos as well as separations between different sections;
  • include selected photos related to community-based environmental monitoring in specific sections; and
  • edit the videos to improve sound quality and light. The support of the selected UN Online Volunteer(s) will be duly acknowledged in the each of the five videos and on the EGP website. The deadline for editing/preparation of the five draft videos is on August 16, 2021, with two rounds of subsequent edits until August 30, 2021.

Eligibility criteria

  • The EGP seeks to work with Online Volunteers who are interested in sustainable development and environmental & human rights protection.
  • Interested candidates need to demonstrate technical experience/background in video editing, including by adding 2-3 examples of videos produced/edited in the last 2 years.
  • Required language: English.
