Opportunity description

The United Nations Volunteers program offers a volunteer opportunity in Egypt for entry-level applicants to work as protection officers for migrants and to coordinate their return and reintegration in North Africa. The overall objective of this program is the safe and voluntary return of vulnerable migrants to and from North Africa and their sustainable reintegration into their countries of origin. This program is funded by the European Union and is implemented in Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, and Tunisia. You will support the team responsible for regional program coordination, located in the IOM Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa, in the overall monitoring of program activities across the region, the preparation of reports, and the successful implementation of regional program activities.

Duties & responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the MPRR-North Africa Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for each of the following:

  • Organizing regional events on the protection, return, and reintegration of migrants in North Africa, by contributing to the coordination of participation, logistics, and content production.
  • Participate in the internal coordination of the program by contributing to the monthly follow-up activities and ensuring that they are accurately documented.
  • Contribute to the preparation of quarterly and annual reports for the program by seeking and consolidating information requested from your relevant colleagues and drafting and sharing reports.
  • Drafting and reviewing concept notes, information notes, and any other relevant documents.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.

Eligibility criteria

  • You must be between 18 and 26 years old.
  • Candidates must be nationals of any country other than the country of appointment.
  • It is preferred that you have an interest in the field of migrant protection and/or immigration policies and previous experience as a volunteer.
  • You must have experience in community development, development programs, and volunteer management.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Working knowledge of Arabic.
  • You must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in the field of social sciences, international relations, or any other related field.
