Opportunity description

The United Nations Volunteers program offers a volunteer opportunity in Turkey to assist with partnership management and support tasks.

Duties & responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Developing partnerships and relationships with donors.
  • Support the Regional Director in strengthening UNV partnerships with key UNV Member States to increase the provision of resources through Fully Funded (FF) and Special Voluntary Fund (SVF) programs in non-field countries located in Europe and the CIS, with a main focus on Countries such as Uzbekistan, Turkey, and Azerbaijan.
  • Collaborate with governments to position UNV in strategic efforts to mobilize resources for the FF and the Special Voluntary Fund in program countries.
  • Follow up on agreed procedures with key government entities in program countries.
  • Act as a point of contact for VSS and/or VSC (or other UNV Departments) Regional Office issues such as Volunteer Management Cycle, Waivers, Payroll, Service Desk, and UVP Improvement Group.
  • Providing educational courses for regional office staff in the field of expertise.
  • Enhance your knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteering by reading relevant UNV and external publications and actively participating in UNV activities (for example in events celebrating International Volunteer Day).
  • Submit annual and final reports on UNV actions, results, and opportunities using the UNV reporting application.
  • Contribute and submit articles on field experiences to UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.
  • Help with the UNV Buddy Program for newly arrived UN Volunteers.
  • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV online volunteering service whenever technically feasible.

Eligibility criteria

You must have:

  • You must be between 18 and 26 years old.
  • You must be a citizen of any country other than the country of appointment.
  • Two years of experience at the national and/or international level in the field of opportunity.
  • Work experience with the United Nations.
  • Problem-solving skills, and the ability to identify and solve crises.
  • Excellent oral and written skills.
  • Excellent drafting and reporting skills.
  • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing.
  • High personal skills.
  • Ability to work comprehensively and collaboratively with a diverse range of partners, including community members, faith-based and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels.
  • Familiarity with communication tools and development methods.
  • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national staff.
  • Good computer knowledge in general, including various Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, etc.), email, and the Internet.
  • Familiarity with database administration; and office technology equipment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Sound security awareness.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Fluency in Russian.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in the field of international relations, social sciences, international law, political science, communications, public relations, or any other related field.
  • Adaptability and flexibility.
  • Creativity skills.
  • Planning and organization skills.
