UNV is offering a volunteer opportunity in Somalia as a Country Program Management Assistant where you will support the UNV field unit in the day-to-day management of UNV activities, which include volunteer outreach, field visits, UNV recruitment processes and supporting host entities in terms of administration and human resources management for United Nations Volunteers.
Duties & responsibilities
You will be responsible for all of the following:
- Create a description of UNV tasks in the Unified Volunteer Platform (UVP).
- Support the field unit in mobilization activities and UNV recruitment processes by ensuring that volunteers complete all required tasks related to UNV qualification in the Unified Volunteer Platform (UVP).
- Follow up and maintain records of engagements in the UVP and mark follow-up actions regarding task extensions, renewals and replacements.
- Support the UNV field unit in conducting UNV support and awareness programs to increase the pool of national talent for both on-site and online volunteers through updating the national talent pool in coordination with the Volunteer Services Center.
- Assist in planning and coordinating UNV events such as UNV meetings, World Volunteer Day and volunteer promotion activities.
- Liaise with UNV to contribute articles/writings on field experiences to UNV publications/websites, newsletters, and newspapers etc.
- Maintain inventories of all non-expendable equipment provided by UNV, and ensure that all items provided for projects implemented by UNV are recorded.
- Maintaining office files and various data, information and reference materials in a way that allows for easy reference and retrieval.
- Perform any other administrative duties that may be required from you.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- Be between 27 and 80 years old
- Be a citizen or legal resident of the country of opportunity.
- 3 years of experience in interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work comprehensively and collaboratively with a variety of partners such as different UN agencies.
- Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment.
- Ability to work effectively within a multicultural team of international and national staff.
- Good general computer knowledge, including the ability to work on various MS Office programs (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet.
- Familiarity with database administration; Office technology equipment and Internet network management systems.
- Self-motivated to work, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Experience in volunteer management or volunteer work.
- Proficiency in English.
- It is preferable to have knowledge of the Somali language.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in management, program management and/or support.
- Ability to adapt and be flexible at work.
- Ability to direct clients.
- Integrity at work.
- Leadership, planning and organization skills.
- Professionalism at work and respect for diversity.
