Opportunity description
The United Nations Volunteers Program offers a volunteer opportunity in communications and reporting for youth in Jordan and Yemen.
Duties & responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Communicate PSF's activities and impact to stakeholders and the wider public.
- Develop impact stories in collaboration with the UNDP Communications Team in Yemen.
- Managing and creating social media content; Drafting press releases and blogs.
- Content management and publishing rules.
- Ensure delivery of inclusive gender-sensitive content in line with UNDP standards.
- Manage a range of minor administrative tasks, including but not limited to preparing internal communication materials such as reports, draft emails, presentations, and/or critical messages, and taking various notes.
- Enhance your knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteering by reading relevant UNV publications and external publications.
- Actively participate in United Nations Volunteers program activities (eg in events celebrating International Volunteer Day).
- Learn about and build on traditional and local forms of volunteering in the host country.
- Monitoring and following up on project activities and preparing reports on them.
- Provide insight to the project team on the quality of implementation of the project.
- Enhance your relationships with your colleagues and various stakeholders.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- You must be between 18 and 26 years old.
- You must be a national of any country other than the country of appointment.
- Two years of experience in media, public relations, communications, or development on a national or international level.
- Proven experience managing social media.
- Experience in developing and implementing communication, outreach, or advocacy strategies.
- It is preferred that you possess knowledge and/or practical experience in the Arab countries region.
- Proficiency in English.
- It is preferred that you have a working knowledge of the Arabic language.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in communications, journalism, international relations, development studies, or any related field.
- Adaptability and flexibility.
- Creativity skills.
- Planning and organizing skills.
- Professionalism at work.
- This opportunity will be located in Amman, Jordan, and will be supervised by the PSF Strategic Planning Specialist. It is expected that you will travel some days to Yemen.
