The United Nations Volunteers Program offers a volunteer opportunity in the field of WordPress website development. This opportunity aims to develop a dynamic and interactive website to serve as a central hub for African youth to engage, learn and collaborate, as well as enhance digital visibility and accessibility of AYM initiatives, programs and resources. This project is part of AYM's strategic initiative to increase its digital footprint and reach. The website aims to be a major source of information, engagement and collaboration among African youth, reflecting the diverse and dynamic spirit of the continent, and will also serve as a gateway for international audiences to understand and connect with African youth movements.
Duties & responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Developing the new AYM website using WordPress and Elementor.
- User-friendly interface design and integration of multimedia content.
- Ensure the site is responsive and easy to access.
- Collaborate with the organization’s team to integrate its vision and content into the website.
- Provide guidance on best practices for site maintenance and updating.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- Extensive experience in website development, especially WordPress and Elementor.
- Proven track record of creating attractive, responsive and easy-to-use websites.
- Strong understanding of web design principles, SEO, and digital accessibility standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Preferably have a passion for youth empowerment and knowledge of African cultural contexts.
- It is preferable to have a working knowledge of the English language.
