UN Volunteers platform is offering a volunteer opportunity at UNICEF in Amman, Jordan as a Technology for Development Associate.
Volunteer duration:
6 months (with possibility of extension)
Duties & responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of Head of ICT or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer will contribute to all/any IT tasks and related activities as below:
- Digital Projects support and Quality Assurance (QA) - Collaborate with project partners and Head of ICT to define project requirements and timelines
- Quality Control (QC) - Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices
- Software development - Develop software and database using any of the following using any of the following (C#, JavaScript, PHP, React, Node js) m databases (Sql, Mysql, PostgreSQL and MongoDB)
- ICT Administration - Assist in the management and maintenance of Digital programme systems
- Helpdesk Support - Provide technical support to users,
- Other similar duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Eligibility criteria
- Age: 18 - 26
- Nationality: Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment.
- Required experience: 2 years of experience in the following areas:
- Strong experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes;
- Experience in software development and database using any of the following using any of the following (C#, JavaScript, PHP, React, Node js, Mysql, and MongoDB);
- Experience in conducting code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices;
- Experience in identifying and resolving software’s technical issues;
- Familiarity with project coordination and management processes;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Providing assistance to users on IT products and services, and use of applications and diagnostic tools is required.
- Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel.
- Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; and to work with tight deadlines.

- Required education level: Bachelor degree or equivalent in Computer science, information technology, or any related specialty
