Opportunity description

UN Volunteers platform is offering a volunteer opportunity at UNICEF in Amman, Jordan as a Technology for Development Associate.

Volunteer duration:

6 months (with possibility of extension)

Duties & responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of Head of ICT or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer will contribute to all/any IT tasks and related activities as below:

  1. Digital Projects support and Quality Assurance (QA) - Collaborate with project partners and Head of ICT to define project requirements and timelines
  2. Quality Control (QC) - Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices
  3. Software development - Develop software and database using any of the following using any of the following (C#, JavaScript, PHP, React, Node js) m databases (Sql, Mysql, PostgreSQL and MongoDB)
  4. ICT Administration - Assist in the management and maintenance of Digital programme systems
  5. Helpdesk Support - Provide technical support to users,
  6. Other similar duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Eligibility criteria

  • Age: 18 - 26
  • Nationality: Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment.
  • Required experience: 2 years of experience in the following areas:
  1. Strong experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes;
  2. Experience in software development and database using any of the following using any of the following (C#, JavaScript, PHP, React, Node js, Mysql, and MongoDB);
  3. Experience in conducting code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices;
  4. Experience in identifying and resolving software’s technical issues;
  5. Familiarity with project coordination and management processes;
  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  8. Providing assistance to users on IT products and services, and use of applications and diagnostic tools is required.
  9. Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel.
  10. Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; and to work with tight deadlines.
