UN Volunteers platform is offering a volunteer opportunity in at UNICEF in East Jerusalem, Palestine as a Programme Associate (Protection Against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse).
To ensure compliance with these important global and moral obligations, the Humanitarian Country Team in Palestine has established a Network on the Prevention and Sexual Exploitation and Abuse. The Network reports to the Resident Coordinator/Humanitarian Coordinator and is co-chaired by one UN and one NGO Head of Agency. It is supported technically by an International PSEA Advisor. Since its establishment in 2018, the network has grown significantly, now encompassing over 80 organizations (including the Association of International Development Agencies – AIDA, and the network Palestinian Non-Governmental Organizations - PNGO, each representing many more member organizations).
Volunteer duration and working hours:
12 months (with possibility of extension).
Duties & responsibilities
Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of PSEA International Coordinator & Specialist or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Programme Associate (Protection Against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) will:
- Coordinate initiatives with PSEA Network Members for the implementation of the awareness Campaign and to engage with young audiences in the community-based complaint mechanism
- Coordinate with the PSEA Network members the implementation of trainings
- Coordinate with the PSEA Network members the implementation of consultative meetings in different geographical areas of Palestine and targeted to different constituencies
- Document PSEA Network and members’ activities that will contribute to the annual report
- Give support to the organization of the PSEA Network monthly meetings, note taking and documentation.
- Support the implementation of the PSEA Communication strategy
- Support reporting needs and fundraising initiatives
- Assist the PSEA Advisor with the coordination of the implementation of the AWP 2022/23
- Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.
Eligibility criteria
Age: 18 - 26
Nationality: Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment.
Languages: English, Level: Fluent, Required Arabic, Level: Mother tongue, Required
Required education level: Bachelor degree or equivalent in Gender Studies, Social anthropology, human rights or any related field.
Required experience:
- 1 years of experience in
- At least 1 year of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in development or humanitarian projects, gender, SGBV, Human Rights, research or other relevant programmes; experience in coordination and communications is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization;
- Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills in English and Arabic
- Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;
- Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
