United Nations Volunteers programme is offering a volunteer opportunity: Humanitarian Affairs Officer in Egyp.
Duration:
6 months (with possibility of extension)
Duties & responsibilities
- Support humanitarian for, and response to the emergency in the oPt.
- Monitor, analyse and report on humanitarian developments, disaster relief/management or emergency situations in oPt;
- Produce analytical notes to better understand political and conflict dynamics in the region, in support of preparedness and operational work in the region.
- Develop or feed into any country/thematic reports/documents that might be required e.g. snapshots, outlooks, sitreps, etc.
- Assist in the production of appeals for international assistance - including Humanitarian Needs Overviews, Humanitarian Response Plans and Flash Appeals - in the region, with a focus on oPt.
- Organize and participate in meetings, conferences and consultations with other agencies and partners on humanitarian and emergency relief-related matters in the region, with a focus on oPt.
Eligibility criteria
Age: 27 - 80
Nationality: Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment.
Required experience:
- 3 years of experience in coordination, reporting, progressively responsible experience in humanitarian affairs, emergency preparedness, crisis/emergency relief management, rehabilitation, development, or other related area is required.
Languages:
- English, Level: Fluent, Required
- Arabic, Level: Fluent, Desirable
Required education level:
Bachelor degree or equivalent in political science, social science, international studies, public administration, economics, engineering, earth sciences.
