United Nations Volunteers programme is offering a volunteer opportunity: Logistics Assistant in Lebanon.
Duration:
12 months (with possibility of extension)
Duties & responsibilities
- Timely coordinate logistics related matters such as tracking International shipments and pre-shipment customs clearance activities including obtaining import permits as required
- Handle and facilitate customs clearance of shipments coming thru Lebanon ports and airports
- Coordinate with Custom Clearing & Forwarding agents on a day to day basis to ensure timely clearance
- Ensure timely completion of customs clearance procedures;
- Maintain a file of the full set of documentation for every shipment in accordance to the organizational requirements
- In coordination with the Procurement team, obtain quotations for the procurement of goods and services when requested
- Follow up on orders to ensure timely delivery of goods and services as stipulated in the Purchases Orders and contracts
- Ensure that issues of late/non-deliveries, missing items/quantities, quality related issues are addressed on a timely basis
Eligibility criteria
Age: 27 - 80
Nationality: Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment.
Required experience:
- 3 years of experience in administrative and logistics, with good knowledge of procurement, warehouse.
- Proficiency in corporate IT systems.
- Valid driver’s license with knowledge of driving rules and regulations.
- Experience in the UN or other international organization with a safe driving record (desirable).
- Experience driving Armored vehicle is an asset
Excellent oral and written skills - Excellent reporting skills
- Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;
- Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment
- Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet
- Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision
- Ability to work with tight deadlines
