United Nations Volunteers programme is offering a volunteer opportunity in South Sudan: Recovery Officer.
Duration:
6 months
Duties & responsibilities
- Monitor and assess the situation of protection of civilians and the delivery of humanitarian, protection services, return and reintegration of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and returnees;
- Contribute to planning, organizing and reporting to support annual work plan and results-based budget and work with partners to identify opportunities to develop programmes/ projects
- Monitor and assess political, social and economic developments, trends and emerging issues in the area of responsibility with regard to protection of civilians, delivery of humanitarian assistance and protection services
- Data collection, storage, analysis, visualization and use for Protection of Civilian (POC), and monitoring and evaluation efforts
- Manage incoming field missions and ensure that relevant field data and information is available
- Prepare and draft inputs to daily and analytical reports, code cables and reports of the Secretary-General
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Eligibility criteria
Age: 27 - 80
Nationality: Candidate must be a national of a country other than the country of assignment.
Required experience:
3 years of experience in a minimum of two or more of the following areas: Protection of civilians, reintegration, advocacy and facilitation for expanding delivery of humanitarian and protection services, stabilization and recovery of conflict affected populations and institutions, project/programme management, data analysis, reporting is required;
Progressive professional experience in inter agency coordination and programme management of protection of civilians, humanitarian affairs, recovery, return and reintegration and development related area is required;
Minimum 2 years of field experience coordinating complex interdisciplinary and multi-dimensional programmes and projects in a post-conflict context is desirable;
Solid computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, power points, etc) and email/internet, familiarity with database management, and office technology equipment.
Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision
Ability to work within tight deadlines;
Sound security awareness
Languages:
- English, Level: Fluent, Required
- Arabic, Level: Working knowledge, Desirable
Required education level:
Masterdegree or equivalent in Political sciences, social sciences, public administration, international studies, economics, or related fields
