UN Volunteers platform is offering a volunteering opportunity in State of Palestine as a Civil Engineer at UNDP PAPP.
Volunteer duration and working hours:
6 moths (with possibility to extend).
Duties & responsibilities
In the CTI project the Civil Engineers will be required to: Work with UNDP Engineers’ team to follow part of the works ongoing on the site, this will include:
- Managing the whole cotractor work at site for a specific building or infrastructure component.
- Preparation of monitoring reports and reporting tools of the progress of the construction activities on sites.
- Coordinate the above-mentioned tasks with other works and other Engineers included in the project such as electrical engineers, and mechanical Engineer.
- Review contractor daily report and send back comments and corrections. Including daily photos for the site works.
Eligibility criteria
- Age: 27 - 80
- Nationality: Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment.
- Required experience:
- 3 years of experience in supervising construction works including buildings and other infrastructure projects. and;
- Experience in survey work.
- Excellent oral and written skills in English; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
- Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;
- Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners.
- Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
- Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, among others), email, and internet.
- Solid experience in AutoCAD, Microsoft project and other Civil engineering software.
- Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
- Sound security awareness.
- Driving license: Soft car driving license Required
- Languages: Arabic, Level: Mother tongue, Desirable English, Level: Fluent, Required
- Required education level: Bachelor degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering
