ESCWA, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) are organizing a meeting aimed at enhancing cooperation in the field of transboundary waters, achieving integrated water resources management at all levels, and improving data exchange and monitoring in Jordan.
Benefits
- The meeting will include presentations, panel discussions, general debates, and interactive breakout sessions to discuss issues related to cooperation in transboundary water resources management and exchange experiences and expertise among participating countries.
- The meeting aims to promote sustainable management of transboundary water resources and activate actions to accelerate the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 6.
- This meeting also aims to review the results of the third round of reporting on SDG indicator 6.5.2. In preparation for this round, ESCWA held a workshop on 30 and 31 May 2023 entitled "Legal and Institutional Arrangements for Transboundary Water Cooperation and Data Exchange."
