Opportunity description
Design Doha is offering a "Arab Design Now" Exhibition which presents a survey of local and regional design talent across disciplines, from architectural and material innovations to contemporary crafts, furniture, fashion, graphic, and object design.
The headline exhibition for Design Doha, Arab Design Now, is curated by Rana Beiruti, a design curator based in Amman, Jordan, and previously the co-founder and director of Amman Design Week
Time and Place:
- The exhibition will take place at M7, in the heart of Msheireb, the creative district of Doha.
- The exhibition will run from February through to August 2024.
Benefits
- Working across themes of material and visual culture and expression, environmental and innovative use of materials, and considerations of technique, detail, pattern, and aesthetic, the exhibition highlights design excellence from across the region of the Levant, the Gulf, and North Africa.
- A publication will accompany the exhibition and will incorporate interviews with participating designers and partner organizations, as well as critics, curators and others in the field. The book will be an indispensable guide to design in the Arab world.
Eligibility criteria
- Application is available for people inside and outside Qatar who have a great interest in the field of Design, especially Arabic Design.
- Applying to the workshop is completely free for students and adults residing in Qatar.
- Students not residing in Qatar have to pay an application fee of 25 Qatari Riyals and adults residing outside Qatar should pay 50 Qatari Riyals.

Design Doha, the landmark biennial dedicated to creative innovation opened on February 24th. We are here to foster the design culture of the MENA region, and create a space of design excellence in Qatar. Looking beyond a globalized or imported design language, the exhibition is a reflection on what it means to create in our region today.
