Barakat is pleased to announce about open grant applications program for 2022. It offers grants with an upper limit of £10,000 for fieldwork, research, study, exhibitions, conservation and documentation projects, and training of professionals in fields associated with history, heritage, and archaeology.

Please note: All applicants will receive 90% payment at the start of the award, with 10% paid on the presentation of an acceptable report.
Eligibility criteria
You should follow the following criteria:
- This grant is for scholars attached to research institutions, curators, and heritage professionals for:
- fieldwork, research, study, exhibitions, conservation, and documentation projects.
- education and training of professionals in fields associated with the history, heritage, and archaeology (before circa 1920 CE) relating to:
- the history of the art, architecture, and material culture of the Islamic world.
- the archaeological investigation of the Islamic world.
- the conservation of artefacts, buildings, and material culture produced in or for the Islamic world.
- libraries, museums, and other public institutions exhibiting the art and material culture of the Islamic world.
- conferences, exhibitions, and publications associated with the aforementioned fields.
- digital and digitization projects, that focus on making collections of the Islamic world more accessible.
- The awards may no longer be paid directly to individuals, and must instead be paid either to the institution to which you belong or to the institution at or through which you are applying to conduct research or to study.
- The Barakat Trust needs to identify an institution to which grant monies can be transferred on your behalf.
- Institutions to which funds can be transferred include:
- Registered Charities
- Registered Community Interest Companies
- Registered Charitable Incorporated Organisations
- Social enterprises
- Education Institution including Universities
- Museums, Libraries and Archives
- Companies

The Barakat Trust was founded as a UK charity in 1987 by two of its founding trustees, Hamida Alireza and Shahnaz Bagherzade. The Barakat Trust was set up to train, educate and enable new generations of professionals committed to preserving the heritage of the Islamic world, and to provide support and nurture their professional growth.
