Al Arabiya offers a job opportunity as a social media reporter. The candidate will be responsible for collecting and analyzing news through listening to different social media channels, analyzing social media trends and seeking influential and knowledgeable social media personalities. In addition to co-operating with the different editorial teams to provide additional information to trending stories.
Responsibilities:
- Use social media listening tools to find breaking and trending stories.
- Supplement stories from different editorial teams with social media information and data.
- Maintain a constant engagement with the social media audience.
- Work with the different editorial teams to suggest and work on different requirements.
- Create social media scripts and oversee the production of the materials.
- Review and evaluate notes taken about news events and find support social media sources.
- Update all Al Arabiya English social media channels.
- Analyze information obtained from different social media channels.
- Perform fact-checking of information for the different editorial teams.
- Monitor current social media trends.
Required Skills:
- 3+ years of experience in field reporting.
- Strong English language editing, writing and reporting skills.
- Strong knowledge of mainstream social media channels including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.
- Knowledge of unconventional social media channels.
- Experience in using major social media listening tools.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills.
- Proven ability to reach relevant and credible sources.
- Proven knowledge of politics in the Middle East.
- Data analysis capabilities.
- Have relevant contacts.
- Have a strong knowledge of opinion writers.
- Word and Excel skills.
- An eye for detail along with critical thinking.
- Arabic speaking skills are an advantage.

Al Arabiya is a Saudi free-to-air television news channel broadcast in Modern Standard Arabic. The channel is based in Dubai Media City, United Arab Emirates; it is regarded as a competitor to Al Jazeera. The channel is interested in political, sports and economic news; it began broadcasting on 3 March 2003 with funding from the Middle East Television Center (MBC).
