Opportunity description

Skateistan is offering Remote Internship: Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning. They are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for nonprofit work and interest in skateboarding or action sports, to join their team for a six-months. You will be able to commit 12-16 hours each week during regular office hours (Mon-Fri, 09:00-17:00 CET). The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the growing area of monitoring, evaluation and learning in the sport for development sector. You will also gain insight into the workings of the first international NGO to combine skateboarding and education activities for youth empowerment.

Responsibilities:

  1.  Assisting in the analysis, visualization and organization of data collected from Skate Schools around the world
  2. Copy-editing and fact checking of internal Skateistan reports and donor reports 
  3. Social impact research 
  4. Assisting the international Programs team with other tasks as needed

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Able to commit for a six month placement
  2. Able to commit 12-16 hours/week during regular office hours (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm CET)
  3. Proficient in Excel
  4. Advanced level of English (written/spoken)
  5. Highly organized and able to multitask
  6. Self-motivated and strong attention to detail
  7. Passionate about sport for development, education or skateboarding

Desired Skills:

  1. Practical experience, student or graduate of Development Studies, Impact Evaluation, Child Psychology or related program with a strong emphasis on research and working with data
  2. Experience in using Excel and/or content databases such as Salesforce
  3. Experience in administration or office environment
  4. Experience volunteering for a nonprofit

Skateistan is an international non-profit organization that uses skateboarding and education to empower children. Over 2,500 children, aged 5–17, attend Skateistan's programs in Afghanistan, Cambodia and South Africa. 50% of students are girls.
