The internship provides an opportunity to work within international teams in Cairo while developing professional, communication, and research skills in a professional UN environment.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Managing the reception desk and responding to calls and inquiries.
  • Receiving visitors and organizing telephone communication services.
  • Coordinating schedules and meetings for the Resident Representative.
  • Organizing official correspondence, documents, and file management.
  • Supporting travel arrangements and logistical services for meetings and missions.
  • Assisting in preparing communication materials and reports.
  • Preparing policy briefs and research reports on development issues.
  • Supporting studies and research related to the Arab region.


Eligibility criteria

Applicants should meet one of the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a Master’s or postgraduate program.
  • Or be in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Or be a recent graduate within the last year.
  • Or be enrolled in an academic professional training program.

Applicants should also:

  • Have good command of spoken and written English.
  • Possess strong communication and research skills.
  • Have good computer and information technology skills.
  • Knowledge of the Arab region and the Arabic language is considered an added advantage.

About the Internship

The intern will provide administrative and organizational support to the Office of the Resident Representative, in addition to assisting with:

  • Managing communications and official correspondence.
  • Coordinating meetings and schedules.
  • Supporting the preparation of development-related reports and research.
  • Assisting in organizing files and documents.
  • Supporting development initiatives and policies of the United Nations Development Programme.
  • Communicating with partners and different stakeholders.
