Associate Principal Job at GEMS School Management for International Schools in 2026

GEMS School Management (GSM) is accepting applications for a full-time Associate Principal position within its international school development and improvement team.

This role is not limited to leading a single school. It involves working with multiple schools across different countries and regions, supporting newly affiliated schools within the GSM network, and leading institutional transformation, performance improvement, and educational quality initiatives.

The successful candidate will work closely with school principals, boards of governors, owners, and regulatory authorities to evaluate school performance, develop improvement plans, strengthen the capabilities of educational leaders, and ensure the implementation of GEMS standards and systems. The candidate may also be required to serve as an interim principal or acting school leader during certain assignments.

The Associate Principal will be responsible for:

1. Leading schools through their onboarding into the GSM network, transformation, and performance improvement processes.
2. Conducting comprehensive reviews and evaluations of school performance and educational quality.
3. Developing measurable school improvement plans and overseeing their implementation.
4. Ensuring schools comply with GSM educational standards, systems, and operating models.
5. Improving teaching quality, student outcomes, and the effectiveness of school leadership.
6. Promoting a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement.
7. Supporting school principals, owners, governing boards, and leadership teams.
8. Representing GSM within partner schools across different countries.
9. Serving as an interim principal or acting school leader when required.
10. Providing educational and strategic advice and recommendations.
11. Conducting follow-up visits and quality assurance reviews.
12. Analyzing performance data and identifying improvement priorities.
13. Monitoring action plans, key performance indicators, and implementation milestones.
14. Supporting schools in preparing for inspections and accreditation processes.
15. Developing the capabilities of school leaders and educational teams.
16. Supporting organizational restructuring, recruitment reviews, and operational improvements.
17. Establishing effective systems for teaching, learning, student safeguarding, and academic achievement.
18. Representing GSM before ministries, regulatory authorities, and external partners.
19. Preparing high-quality reports and strategic recommendations for management and key stakeholders.
20. Leading strategic projects across the GSM network.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

1. Have substantial senior leadership experience in high-performing schools.
2. Have previous experience as a school principal, head of school, executive director, vice principal, or in a comparable leadership position.
3. Demonstrate a proven track record of leading school improvement and achieving measurable results.
4. Have experience preparing schools for inspection and accreditation processes.
5. Have experience working in diverse educational environments.
6. Possess a strong understanding of curricula, assessment, teaching, and learning practices.
7. Have experience leading teams through organizational change and institutional development.
8. Be able to manage multiple priorities and relationships with different stakeholders.
9. Be willing to travel internationally extensively and work in schools across multiple countries.
10. Be able to work independently in new and unfamiliar environments.
11. Possess excellent communication, influencing, and relationship-management skills.
