Opportunity description
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) offers an internship opportunity for 12 months in Climate Change - Innovative Public Outreach and Communication. The IAEA accepts a limited number of interns each year. The internships are awarded to persons studying towards a university degree or who have recently received a degree. You will get the opportunity to gain practical work experience in line with your studies or interests, and expose you to the work of the IAEA and the United Nations as a whole.
Duties & responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Contributing to selected activities in project design, implementation and monitoring, and related outreach.
- Supporting the implementation of the IAEA's climate change activities and the IAEA's multisectoral work on climate change mitigation and adaption in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals.
- Supporting the continued update of the TC Climate Change Project Database.
- Supporting the development of outreach and communication plans, including partnership, social media, and knowledge products.
- Assisting with the planning, organization, and conduct of climate change-related in-person and virtual events.
- Contributing to the planning and implementation of IAEA initiatives in the run-up to COP27.
- Assisting and engaging in youth participation in IAEA climate events.

Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- University degree in development economics, statistics, public policy, political science, international relations, international law, public administration or related fields.
- Ability to work individually with limited supervision and contribute to a team project.
- Ability to work in a team and to collaborate with colleagues to achieve organizational goals.
- Ability to generate new ideas.
- Research, drafting, and social media skillset.
- Good interpersonal skills to work in a multicultural environment with respect and sensitivity for diversity.
- Demonstrable engagement with and interest in Climate Change.
- Completed at least three years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a first degree.
- Candidates may apply up to one year after the completion of a bachelor's, master's or doctorate degree.
- Candidates must not have previously participated in the IAEA's internship programme.
- Good written and spoken English essential.
- Fluency in any other IAEA official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish or Russian) an asset.
