Opportunity description

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is offering a full-time Communications Analyst position in Khartoum, Sudan, under a one-year fixed-term contract at the NO-A level.

The selected candidate will develop and implement UNDP Sudan’s strategic communications plan, manage media and digital communications, and highlight the impact of the programme’s recovery and development projects. The role also involves advising senior management, supervising the communications team, and building relationships with media outlets, government institutions, donors, and civil society organizations.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Lead the communications team, oversee daily work planning, and evaluate staff performance.
  • Develop and implement internal and external communications and outreach strategies in Sudan.
  • Produce human-interest stories, newsletters, project summaries, visual materials, and infographics.
  • Monitor the performance of communications activities, measure results, and prepare reports and performance indicators.
  • Develop the digital communications strategy and manage content for the website and social media platforms.
  • Build relationships with media outlets, government institutions, donors, civil society organizations, and the private sector.
  • Organize campaigns, events, press conferences, interviews, and briefing sessions, while supporting resource mobilization and partnership development.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must hold one of the following qualifications:

  1. A master’s degree or equivalent in communications, media relations, journalism, public relations, publishing, or a related field. No previous professional experience is required for applicants holding a master’s degree.

Or:

  1. A bachelor’s degree in one of the fields listed above, with at least two years of relevant professional experience.

Applicants must also have:

  1. Experience in communications, public relations, advocacy, or print, visual, or digital media.
  2. Fluency in Arabic and English.
  3. Proficiency in computer applications and office software.
  4. Knowledge of electronic management systems and digital communication tools.
  5. The ability to develop and implement effective communications strategies.
  6. Strong writing, editing, and media relations skills.
  7. The ability to manage relationships and partnerships with multiple stakeholders.
