UNICEF is offering a consultancy opportunity for a Child Friendly City Initiative (CFCI) Consultant to support its field office in Aleppo in reactivating and further developing the Child Friendly City Initiative.
The consultant will support UNICEF and local authorities in developing a results framework and a multisectoral action plan aligned with Child Friendly City standards and the priorities of the local government in Aleppo. The assignment aims to strengthen the participation of children and young people and integrate child rights into local planning, policies, and services.
The consultancy will be implemented in two phases, each lasting 3 months, for a total duration of 6 months, with the possibility of extension depending on progress and the needs of the initiative.

Duties & responsibilities
Support the UNICEF Aleppo Field Office in reactivating and further developing the Child Friendly City Initiative (CFCI).
Contribute to the development of a clear Results Framework for the initiative.
Develop a multisectoral action plan aligned with Child Friendly City standards and the priorities of the local government in Aleppo.
Coordinate with local authorities and relevant partners to ensure integration and collaboration across different sectors.
Support the development of partnerships and collaborative networks with relevant institutions and stakeholders.
Contribute to strengthening children’s and young people’s participation in planning and implementation processes.
Provide technical support in local governance, youth development, and community engagement.
Prepare and draft technical documents, reports, and briefs related to the initiative.
Support relevant public communication and social and behaviour change activities.
Monitor implementation of the action plan and document progress and results throughout both phases of the consultancy.
Work closely with UNICEF teams and local authorities to ensure the initiative is aligned with child rights and local development priorities.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
Hold a master’s degree in one of the following fields:
Human Rights.
Social Sciences.
Public Health.
Policy or Development Studies.
Or a related field.
Have at least 7 years of professional experience.
Have experience in one or more of the following areas:
Local governance.
Youth development and participation.
Social and Behaviour Change.
Public communication.
Have strong knowledge of partnership building and networking.
Possess excellent writing and technical documentation skills.
Have strong communication skills.
Be fluent in Arabic and English, both written and spoken.
Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and social media platforms.
