UNICEF in Algeria announces a national consultancy opportunity for a Junior/Associate Consultant to support the implementation and documentation of the “Adolescent Kit” in cooperation with three partner ministries in Algeria.
This consultancy aims to support UNICEF and the senior national consultant in adapting the “Adolescent Kit” tools to the Algerian context, assisting in facilitating some training sessions, following up on field implementation, and documenting the experience and lessons learned.
The assignment focuses on supporting the training of 90 ministerial staff members, with 30 participants from each ministry, in addition to following up on 6 supervised field implementation activities, within the framework of Life Skills and Citizenship Education, known as LSCE.
This opportunity is suitable for professionals with experience in non-formal education, adolescent development, participatory facilitation, working with youth, child protection, field documentation, or social work.

Duties & responsibilities
- Support the review of documents and identify elements that need to be adapted to the Algerian context.
- Assist in preparing notes, meeting minutes, needs summaries, and contextual elements.
- Support the senior consultant in adapting examples, exercises, case studies, feedback tools, and replication templates.
- Provide targeted support during 3 training-of-trainers sessions, with approximately two days for each session.
- Assist participants in group work, practical exercises, simulations, pre- and post-tests, and feedback collection.
- Contribute to preparing and compiling the replication plans produced by participants.
- Participate in 6 supervised field implementation activities in coordination with the senior consultant.
- Document field practices, collect feedback from participants and ministries, and analyze the results.
- Contribute to evaluation sessions after the activities and identify areas for improvement.
- Comply with child safeguarding standards, informed consent, data protection, and ethical documentation.
- Compile field notes, photos or permitted documentation materials, and lists of tools used.
- Contribute to preparing the annexes of the final report, including lessons learned, challenges, good practices, and practical recommendations.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Have at least 3 years of professional experience in a relevant field.
- The experience should be in areas such as training, participatory facilitation, youth engagement, non-formal education, adolescent development, child protection, social work, field documentation, or related fields.
- Have experience in supporting trainings, workshops, consultations, group work, or field activities.
- Have experience working with public institutions, international organizations, associations, or local structures.
- Have experience in writing analytical notes, collecting feedback, documenting practices, preparing meeting minutes, or contributing to reports.
- Experience working with adolescents, youth, facilitators, educators, social workers, or community structures is considered an advantage.
- Proficiency in both French and Arabic is required.
- Knowledge of English is considered an advantage.
- Have a good understanding of life skills and LSCE approaches, preferably with prior knowledge of the Adolescent Kit or similar tools.
- Have strong skills in participatory facilitation, adult training, practical training, documentation, and report writing.
- Be able to integrate concepts of inclusion, gender, disability, child protection, ethics, and data protection.
- Experience with UNICEF, United Nations agencies, or international partners is considered an advantage.
- Experience working with ministries or public institutions in Algeria is considered an advantage.
- Experience in adolescent participation, innovation, community engagement, or social inclusion is considered an advantage.
