UNICEF has announced a full-time job opportunity for the position of Education Officer at the NO-2 level in its field office in Deir ez-Zor, Syria.
The Education Officer will work under the supervision of the Head of UNICEF Field Office in Deir ez-Zor and will provide technical, operational, and administrative support for education programs and projects, from planning and development to implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
The position aims to ensure the efficient implementation of education programs and the achievement of tangible results for children, especially in crisis- and conflict-affected environments.

Duties & responsibilities
The Education Officer’s responsibilities include:
- Contributing to the preparation and development of education plans and programs.
- Collecting and analyzing information and data related to education needs.
- Supporting the preparation of work plans, budgets, proposals, and technical documents.
- Managing the implementation of education programs and projects and monitoring their progress.
- Monitoring the use of resources and budgets and ensuring compliance with plans.
- Preparing periodic reports on results, challenges, and progress achieved.
- Providing technical and operational support to partners and implementing entities.
- Coordinating with government institutions and local and international organizations.
- Building partnerships with entities working in the education sector.
- Participating in meetings, field visits, and reviews of activity implementation.
- Supporting capacity building for partners and local staff in the field of education.
- Contributing to knowledge management and documenting lessons learned and good practices.
- Proposing innovative solutions and approaches to improve program quality and reach children.
- Supporting the education response in emergencies and humanitarian crises.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- The applicant must be a Syrian national, as the position is classified under the National Officer category.
- The applicant must hold a university degree in education, psychology, sociology, or a related technical field.
- The applicant must have at least two years of professional experience in planning or managing education programs, or conducting related research.
- Strong skills in program planning, management, and coordination.
- Ability to engage with stakeholders and build effective working relationships.
- Good negotiation skills.
- Ability to identify practical solutions to complex challenges.
- Fluency in Arabic, both spoken and written.
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
- Willingness to work from the duty station in Deir ez-Zor.
- Ability to pass medical clearance and verification of qualifications, experience, and professional record.
- Commitment to UNICEF standards related to child safeguarding and professional conduct.
