UNICEF is offering a National UN Volunteer opportunity for a Gender Specialist in Amman, Jordan, for a period of 12 months. The selected volunteer will support the integration of gender equality and the empowerment of girls and women across UNICEF’s development and humanitarian programmes, with a particular focus on child protection, prevention of gender-based violence, and adolescent girls’ empowerment.

Duties & responsibilities
- Support the integration of gender equality across UNICEF programmes and projects.
- Provide technical support on child protection, girls’ empowerment, and gender-based violence prevention and response.
- Monitor gender-related performance indicators and contribute to reports, studies, and programme assessments.
- Support partnerships with government institutions, civil society organizations, and United Nations agencies.
- Contribute to advocacy, awareness, and communication initiatives promoting gender equality.
- Support research activities, data analysis, and the documentation of results, lessons learned, and good practices.
Eligibility criteria
- Master’s degree in Sociology, Gender Studies, Demography, Psychology, Political Science, Social Policy, Economics, or a related field.
- At least seven years of professional experience in gender equality and social inclusion, preferably in the areas of protection, gender-based violence (GBV), and girls’ empowerment.
- Fluency in both Arabic and English.
- Experience in the design and management of results-based development or humanitarian programmes.
