Opportunity description

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking a Human Resources Specialist – People Policies for its office in Bonn, Germany. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and interpreting human resources policies, providing guidance to management on complex HR issues, and supporting the implementation of UNDP’s global human resources strategy, "People for 2030."

Duties & responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and draft human resources policies for UNDP.
  • Provide expert guidance on staff regulations, rules, procedures, and HR policies.
  • Analyze complex human resources issues and identify associated risks and mitigation measures.
  • Support employee wellbeing, performance management, and professional development initiatives.
  • Prepare HR guidelines, manuals, and policy implementation tools.
  • Represent UNDP in inter-agency meetings, working groups, and United Nations human resources networks.

Eligibility criteria

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Law, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree with additional relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum of seven years of experience (with a Master’s degree) or nine years of experience (with a Bachelor’s degree) in human resources, law, or related fields.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Knowledge of United Nations systems, regulations, and human resources frameworks is considered an asset.
