Opportunity description

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is offering a full-time position for a Chief Technical Adviser for Water Management, Food Security, and Social Protection Projects in Aden, Yemen.

The selected candidate will lead and manage three major projects funded by the World Bank and serve as a coordinator and senior adviser for all World Bank-funded projects implemented by UNDP in Yemen.

The role focuses on ensuring the efficient implementation of projects and the achievement of results related to food security, social protection, economic recovery, water management, and climate resilience. The incumbent will also provide strategic and technical advice to senior management, project teams, and government and international partners.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and monitoring of World Bank-funded projects related to food security, social protection, and water management in Yemen.
  • Prepare work plans, budgets, and performance indicators, and ensure that project results are achieved within the established timelines.
  • Supervise project teams and monitor risks, challenges, implementation quality, and periodic reporting.
  • Manage financial resources, procurement, and payments, while ensuring compliance with UNDP and World Bank policies.
  • Build partnerships and coordinate with the World Bank, government institutions, donors, and civil society organizations.
  • Provide strategic advice and oversee all World Bank-funded projects implemented by UNDP in Yemen.
  • Integrate gender equality and environmental and social safeguards into project implementation, and document knowledge and lessons learned.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must hold one of the following qualifications:

  1. A master’s degree or equivalent in economics, social protection and development, livelihoods, food security, natural resource management, business administration, or a related social science field, with at least 10 years of relevant professional experience.

Or:

  1. A bachelor’s degree in one of the fields listed above, with at least 12 years of relevant professional experience.
