The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is offering a job opportunity in Amman, Jordan for the position of Senior Finance Associate, working within the Global Fund Middle East Response (MER) programme, which supports the delivery of essential health services to populations affected by crises and displacement across several countries in the Middle East.
The position plays a key role in managing and monitoring the project’s financial operations, including preparing and reviewing budgets, monitoring expenditures, following up on payments and bank reconciliations, managing vendor accounts and payroll, preparing financial reports, and supporting audit procedures and compliance with IOM financial policies.
The role also involves providing specialized financial and administrative support to project managers and teams, while contributing to stronger financial management and data-informed decision-making in an international and multicultural work environment.

Duties & responsibilities
- Provide financial and procedural guidance to managers and staff, while supervising and training finance support personnel.
- Manage and monitor resources, assets, funds, and reserves in accordance with IOM policies.
- Provide advice and support to managers and office officials on financial and administrative matters.
- Contribute to the preparation of the annual budget and budget revisions, including estimates for staff, office, service, and equipment costs.
- Monitor compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Prepare and compile data for financial statements and reports, while monitoring expenditures.
- Prepare periodic and ad hoc financial information and reports to support decision-making.
- Follow up on bank reconciliations and IOM accounts.
- Prepare and review Payroll.
- Ensure that payments are supported by proper approvals and adequate documentation.
- Follow up on audit queries and implement Audit recommendations.
- Review vendor accounts and verify claims and invoices.
- Prepare reports related to budgeting, accounting, statistics, and financial data.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field, with at least 4 years of relevant professional experience; or hold a high school diploma with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience with SAP or recognized accounting systems such as Oracle, WAVE, or ATLAS is considered a strong asset.
- Demonstrate a high level of accuracy, organization, and a systematic approach to handling financial documents and data.
- Previous experience with international humanitarian organizations, NGOs, or government entities in a multicultural environment is preferred.
- Have good knowledge of electronic accounting systems and software.
- Be proficient in spoken and written English.
