Opportunity description

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is offering an opportunity for the position of Operations Associate under the Aqaba Projects in Jordan. The selected candidate will support the administrative, financial, and logistical operations of environmental and development projects, including procurement, contract management, budgeting, travel arrangements, event coordination, and document management. The role involves close collaboration with programme and operations teams to ensure that project activities are implemented efficiently and in compliance with United Nations policies and procedures, contributing to sustainable development and marine environmental protection efforts in Aqaba.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Support financial administration and monitor project budgets and expenditures.
  • Implement procurement and contract management procedures in accordance with United Nations regulations and policies.
  • Assist with recruitment and contracting processes related to project activities.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements, official missions, workshops, meetings, and project events.
  • Manage project documentation, records, and both electronic and physical filing systems.
  • Monitor inventory, office equipment, and information technology assets.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support to project teams.
  • Prepare operational reports, maintain project records, and facilitate knowledge-sharing within project activities.

Eligibility criteria

  • High school diploma with at least 7 years of relevant professional experience; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field with at least 4 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in administrative operations, financial management, or project administration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in procurement, contract management, and event coordination is desirable.
  • Knowledge of United Nations systems or the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English, both written and spoken.
