The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is inviting applications for the position of Project Officer to support the Building Resilience to Cope with Climate Change in Jordan through Improving Water Use Efficiency in the Agriculture Sector (BRCCJ) project in Amman, Jordan.
The project aims to strengthen the resilience of local communities to climate change by improving water-use efficiency in the agricultural sector, promoting the sustainable management of natural resources, and enhancing cooperation between government institutions and development partners. It covers the governorates of Karak, Madaba, Tafilah, and Ma’an and is implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Water and Irrigation, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
The Project Officer will support the day-to-day implementation of project activities, coordinate with implementing entities and partners, monitor progress, prepare reports, and help ensure that activities are delivered in line with approved work plans and UNDP policies. The role contributes directly to achieving the project’s objectives and advancing sustainable development in Jordan.

Duties & responsibilities
The Project Officer will be responsible for:
- Supporting the implementation of project activities in accordance with approved work plans.
- Coordinating with the Project Management Unit, government partners, and implementing organizations.
- Monitoring project progress and ensuring activities are delivered on schedule.
- Preparing work plans, activity schedules, and procurement plans.
- Managing and following up on contracts with consultants and service providers.
- Monitoring project budgets and expenditures, and preparing financial forecasts.
- Preparing technical, operational, and donor reports.
- Supporting project monitoring, evaluation, and risk management activities.
- Organising meetings, workshops, and field missions.
- Coordinating with government institutions, the private sector, and civil society organizations.
- Preparing presentations and technical documentation.
- Documenting lessons learned and best practices.
- Contributing to knowledge management, communication activities, and the visibility of project achievements.
- Supporting the preparation of resource mobilization proposals for future projects.
- Performing any other duties assigned by the direct supervisor.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must meet one of the following educational and professional requirements:
- Hold a master's degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Management, Environmental Management, or a related field, with at least two years of relevant professional experience; or
- Hold a bachelor's degree in one of the above disciplines, with at least four years of relevant professional experience.
In addition, applicants should:
- Have proven experience in project or programme management.
- Demonstrate experience in coordination, budget management, risk management, and partnership development.
- Be fluent in both Arabic and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
