The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Egypt announces a job opportunity for the position of Project Officer - Innovation in Sustainable Design in Cairo, under the Danish-Egyptian Dialogue Initiative (DEDI), an initiative focused on innovation in sustainable design, green transition, and youth entrepreneurship.
The selected employee will support the implementation of the innovation in sustainable design component by coordinating innovation programs, supporting young people in developing sustainable business models and technical solutions, building partnerships with universities, innovation incubators, and small and medium-sized enterprises, and contributing to monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
This opportunity is suitable for professionals with experience in program management, innovation, entrepreneurship, sustainable development, and working with youth, especially in the contexts of green transition and sustainable design.

Duties & responsibilities
- Support the coordination and implementation of program activities related to innovation, youth, entrepreneurship, and green transition skills.
- Develop ideas and concepts for training programs such as bootcamps, ideation activities, incubation cycles, mentoring, and project pitching events.
- Design and manage calls for proposals, including the selection of young participants, partners, and stakeholders.
- Support the development of business models, technical solutions, and youth-led initiatives.
- Identify challenges and risks that may face the project and contribute to developing mitigation plans.
- Supervise a national volunteer from the United Nations to support program-related tasks and logistics.
- Build and coordinate partnerships with entities in Egypt and Denmark.
- Communicate with universities, innovation incubators, small and medium-sized enterprises, design institutions, and entrepreneurship support organizations.
- Support the preparation of agreements and contracts in cooperation with UNDP procurement and partnership teams.
- Follow up on financial aspects, procurement processes, and payments in coordination with the relevant teams.
- Monitor performance indicators and results related to innovation, youth, and entrepreneurship activities.
- Prepare progress and learning reports, and contribute to the project’s periodic reports.
- Document lessons learned, achievements, and challenges.
- Provide input for media and communication materials, such as social media content, press releases, and knowledge products.
- Follow up on recent research and practices in the fields of innovation and sustainability and integrate them into program activities.
Eligibility criteria
To apply for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Have a master’s degree or equivalent in business administration, entrepreneurship, innovation management, sustainable development, economics, development studies, social sciences, or a related field.
- Alternatively, have a bachelor’s degree in one of the mentioned fields with additional qualifying experience.
- Have at least 2 years of experience with a master’s degree, or 4 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree.
- The experience must be in designing or implementing innovation programs, entrepreneurship support, incubation or acceleration, or youth programs related to sustainable development or green transition.
- Have experience in coordinating development programs, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
- Have experience working with youth, innovation, entrepreneurship, or sustainable development initiatives.
- Have experience in stakeholder engagement and partnership building with public or private entities or civil society organizations.
- Be proficient in using computer programs such as Word and Excel, as well as data management systems or digital systems.
- Be fluent in both Arabic and English.
- A project or program management certification is considered an advantage.
- Experience with regional or international organizations or the United Nations is considered an advantage.
- Knowledge of the youth, innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainability ecosystem in Egypt or the Arab region is considered an advantage.
