Duties & responsibilities

  • Lead and implement IOM protection programs while ensuring compliance with international protection standards and guidelines.
  • Manage and oversee protection, psychosocial support, and resettlement projects to ensure effective delivery of assistance.
  • Supervise protection teams, provide technical guidance, training, and capacity-building support.
  • Develop project proposals, contribute to resource mobilization efforts, and prepare regular program reports.
  • Promote the integration of protection principles and accountability to affected populations across IOM programs and interventions.
  • Represent the organization in protection working groups, coordination forums, and relevant humanitarian platforms.
  • Prepare analyses, reports, briefing notes, and awareness materials related to protection issues and trends.
  • Coordinate with government authorities, local partners, international organizations, and stakeholders to enhance the effectiveness of humanitarian responses.
  • Monitor field developments and provide strategic advice to senior management on protection-related matters and emerging concerns.

Eligibility criteria

  • Master’s degree in Political Science, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Migration Studies, International Relations, Law, or a related field, with at least 5 years of relevant professional experience; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with at least 7 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proven experience in migration, internally displaced persons (IDP) protection, or humanitarian protection programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing protection programs, combating human trafficking, addressing gender-based violence (GBV), or humanitarian case management.
  • Strong knowledge of international protection standards, principles, and protection information management systems.
  • Excellent leadership, management, reporting, and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written) is required; knowledge of Arabic is considered an asset.
  • Advanced computer proficiency and experience in humanitarian project and program management.
