Remote Child Protection Consultant Position with UNICEF in Jordan for 2026

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is accepting applications for a Child Protection Consultant – Parenting Support for Violence Prevention position within the Child Protection section of its Global Practice and Programmes team, with the role linked to Amman, Jordan.

The consultancy will run for 12.5 months and will be carried out remotely. The consultant will provide technical support to UNICEF country offices and government partners to develop and expand positive parenting programmes that help prevent violence against children, reduce violent disciplinary practices, and promote safe and supportive family environments.

The role will focus on integrating Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) approaches into parenting support programmes, documenting good practices, preparing technical guidance and resources, and strengthening knowledge exchange and learning across countries and regions.

The consultant’s responsibilities will include:

1. Providing technical support to UNICEF country offices and governments on parenting programmes and child protection.
2. Supporting the design, review, adaptation, and scale-up of positive parenting programmes.
3. Integrating Social and Behaviour Change approaches into parenting and violence-prevention programmes.
4. Preparing and reviewing strategies, policies, programme frameworks, and implementation plans.
5. Supporting the development of national programmes related to child protection and caregiver support.
6. Preparing guidelines, technical resources, and knowledge products.
7. Documenting good practices and lessons learned from programmes in different countries.
8. Strengthening learning and the exchange of experience across countries and regions.
9. Supporting communities of practice related to parenting and child protection.
10. Analyzing requests for technical support and providing practical, actionable recommendations.
11. Supporting programmes that address harmful social and gender norms.
12. Contributing to stronger integration between child protection programmes and Social and Behaviour Change initiatives.
13. Managing several technical support requests simultaneously.
14. Organizing and facilitating meetings, workshops, and consultations with stakeholders.
15. Preparing high-quality reports, analytical materials, and technical recommendations.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

1. Hold an advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in one of the following fields:
   • Child Protection
   • Social Work
   • Psychology
   • Public Health
   • Sociology
   • International Development
   • Education
   • Social and Behaviour Change
   • Or another related social science discipline.
2. Have at least eight years of progressively responsible professional experience in one or more of the following areas:
   • Child Protection
   • Violence Prevention against Children
   • Parenting and Caregiver Support
   • Social and Behaviour Change
   • Strengthening Child Protection Systems
   • Or other closely related fields.
3. Demonstrate proven experience providing technical support to governments, UNICEF country offices, United Nations agencies, or development partners.
4. Have experience designing, implementing, reviewing, and scaling parenting or child protection programmes.
5. Have experience developing policies, strategies, programme frameworks, and implementation plans.
6. Have experience preparing technical guidance, analytical documents, and knowledge products.
7. Have experience in knowledge management and documenting good practices.
8. Be able to facilitate communities of practice, workshops, and technical meetings.
