Duties & responsibilities
- Uphold the values and standards of excellence established by GEMS Education.
- Deliver the required science curriculum while demonstrating accurate and up-to-date knowledge of the subject and curriculum.
- Plan and deliver high-quality lessons that motivate students and actively engage them in learning.
- Prepare suitable teaching materials and resources for different learning styles.
- Maintain curriculum plans, annual plans, attendance records, assessment records, and teaching resources.
- Follow all school policies, procedures, and codes of conduct.
- Address the diverse needs of students, including newly enrolled students, English language learners, and students with different academic abilities.
- Assign and mark homework, assess student performance, and maintain accurate records of academic progress.
- Use assessment results to improve teaching methods and respond effectively to students’ needs.
- Integrate media, technology, information, and communication tools into classroom instruction.
- Support students’ academic progress and well-being and provide guidance on educational matters.
- Communicate with external authorities when required, including officials from the Ministry of Education.
- Participate in performance evaluation processes and continuous professional development programs.
- Collaborate with colleagues in preparing teaching materials, curriculum content, and student support plans.
- Participate in and lead classroom and extracurricular activities when required.
- Monitor student behavior and apply strategies that promote self-discipline.
- Encourage cultural awareness, mutual understanding, and respect for diversity among students.
- Assist in organizing school events, competitions, celebrations, and performances.
- Hold regular meetings with parents and keep them informed about their children’s progress.
- Maintain the confidentiality of student information.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in school committees.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the principal or direct supervisor.
Eligibility criteria
- Hold a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or a bachelor's degree in Science or a closely related field.
- Possess a recognized teaching qualification, such as a PGCE, PGDE, or an equivalent Level 5 teaching qualification.
- Have at least two years of experience teaching science to the relevant age group or educational stage.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of science and the relevant curriculum.
- Be proficient in using information and communication technology (ICT) to support teaching and learning.
- Be committed to delivering high-quality education and supporting students' academic progress.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be able to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to the wider school community.
- Be capable of supporting students with diverse abilities and educational needs.
