The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) is offering an opportunity for the position of Social Policy Officer in Khartoum, Sudan. This role focuses on supporting the design and development of social protection systems and social registries, while improving coordination mechanisms between social assistance and humanitarian response programmes. The selected candidate will contribute to data analysis, the development of information-sharing systems, the reduction of duplication across assistance programmes, and the enhancement of aid delivery to the most vulnerable populations. The position plays a key role in strengthening social protection systems in line with international best practices and UNICEF’s policy frameworks.

Duties & responsibilities
- Conduct a comprehensive gender analysis of UNICEF nutrition programmes.
- Identify gaps, challenges, and opportunities related to gender equality within programme design and implementation.
- Assess programme alignment with UNICEF policies, gender frameworks, and international humanitarian and development standards.
- Develop practical recommendations and action plans to strengthen gender equality outcomes.
- Propose indicators and monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to measure progress and impact.
- Integrate age, disability, socioeconomic status, and geographic considerations into the analysis and recommendations.
- Support strategies that engage men and boys as partners in promoting gender equality and positive social change.
Eligibility criteria
- Advanced degree (Master’s or higher) in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Public Health, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of professional experience in gender analysis and the integration of gender equality considerations into development programmes.
- Strong knowledge of UNICEF’s gender policies, frameworks, and approaches.
- Experience with GBA Plus (Gender-Based Analysis Plus) tools and international development assistance policies related to gender equality.
- Fluency in Arabic and English, both written and spoken.
- Previous experience in nutrition and public health programmes is highly desirable.
