Opportunity description
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is seeking a Supply Chain Officer to support its humanitarian and logistics operations by ensuring the efficient management of procurement, inventory, transportation, and distribution processes. The selected candidate will coordinate supply chain activities and work closely with logistics teams to ensure that humanitarian and medical supplies reach field operations in a timely and effective manner.
Important Requirements
- Valid driving licence for manual transmission vehicles.
- Willingness to undertake international field assignments.
- Ability to work in challenging and unstable environments.
- Good health condition and ability to pass the required medical examination.
- In accordance with ICRC policy, candidates cannot be deployed to a country of which they are nationals.
Duties & responsibilities
- Monitor orders and provide updates to customers and internal stakeholders on shipment and supply status.
- Coordinate with procurement, warehouse, and transportation teams to ensure smooth supply chain operations.
- Follow up on import and export processes, including required permits and documentation.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve logistics-related issues.
- Review delayed orders and support their timely completion.
- Monitor inventory levels of medical and non-medical supplies.
- Manage slow-moving and near-expiry stock items.
- Participate in warehouse stock counts and inventory reconciliation activities.
- Create kitting work orders and monitor stock availability to support operational needs.
Eligibility criteria
- Bachelor's degree in:
- Business Administration
- Commerce
- Engineering
- Or a related field.
- CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) certification.
- APICS / ASCM certification.
- Other professional certifications in procurement, logistics, or supply chain management are considered an asset.
- Three to five years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Supply Chain Management
- Procurement
- Warehouse Management
- Inventory Management
- Transportation and Distribution
- Previous experience with humanitarian organizations, United Nations agencies, or international organizations is considered a strong advantage.
- Fluency in English.
- Fluency in Arabic.
