The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is accepting applications for national consultancy positions as Enumerators, Interviewers, or Note Takers under a pilot project to develop a School Management System and an Early Warning System (EWS) in the Sahrawi refugee camps in Tindouf, Algeria.
The contract will run for three months. Consultants will work with UNICEF’s Education Section to collect quantitative and qualitative data from schools, teachers, students, and community members. The collected data will support the development and improvement of education systems and help promote evidence-based decision-making.

Duties & responsibilities
- Collect quantitative and qualitative data from schools and community members using approved research tools.
- Conduct individual interviews, focus group discussions, and field surveys.
- Record observations and prepare accurate field reports.
- Use digital data collection tools such as Kobo, ODK, and Excel.
- Comply with research ethics, confidentiality requirements, and informed consent procedures.
- Collaborate with the UNICEF team and the national consultant to ensure data quality and accuracy.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in education, social sciences, statistics, sociology, or a related field.
- Have two to three years of experience in data collection or field research.
- Have experience conducting interviews, surveys, school assessments, or focus group discussions.
- Be familiar with digital data collection tools such as Kobo, ODK, or Excel.
- Be proficient in Arabic.
- Be proficient in English or French.
- Knowledge of Hassaniya Arabic or Spanish is considered an advantage.
- Previous experience with UNICEF, humanitarian settings, or refugee camps is preferred.
