UNICEF announces a two-month internship opportunity at its Gulf Area Office in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, in the fields of water, climate, and program management. The internship aims to support UNICEF’s Gulf Area Office in designing, planning, organizing, and reporting on sessions and activities directed at children during events and conferences related to water and climate, including DIHAD, the Water Conference in December, and COP 31 in November 2026.
The opportunity focuses on engaging children in discussions related to climate and water, following up on government and private-sector activities related to children, and documenting the stories and outcomes of events that highlight the role and participation of the United Arab Emirates.

Duties & responsibilities
- Collect information and follow up on updates related to events held in the UAE and the COP conference in Turkey.
- Follow up on the participation of government entities and the private sector in activities related to children at the events.
- Support the design of sessions and activities dedicated to children within the three conferences.
- Prepare reports on the events and collect stories that highlight the UAE’s participation.
- Support the UNICEF team in planning, organizing, and documenting activities related to water and climate.
Eligibility criteria
- Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate, master’s, or PhD program, or have graduated within the past two years.
- Preferably have an academic background in international development, social work, media and communication, environmental studies, or a related field.
- Have a clear interest in climate and water issues.
- Have knowledge of or interest in the political and ethical discussions related to water and climate.
- Be proficient in at least one of UNICEF’s working languages: English, French, or Spanish, along with proficiency in the working language of the internship office.
- Have a strong academic record.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Have no immediate relatives working in any UNICEF office.
