UNICEF is offering a National UN Volunteer Data Analyst position in Algiers, Algeria, through the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme. The assignment aims to support UNICEF Algeria in data collection, analysis, cleaning, visualization, and the development of digital tools that enable evidence-based decision-making.
The role contributes to the UNICEF–Government of Algeria Cooperation Programme 2023–2027, which focuses on advancing the rights of children and young people in health, nutrition, education, child protection, and social policy. The assignment also seeks to strengthen the use of data, analytics, and dashboards to support planning, monitoring, reporting, and improved programme outcomes for children and adolescents.

Duties & responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and consolidate databases from various office monitoring systems and tools.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, accuracy, and reliability across datasets.
- Apply advanced data analytics techniques, including AI-driven approaches where appropriate.
- Automate data processing and analysis workflows to improve efficiency and timeliness.
- Produce analytical reports, insights, and summaries to support evidence-based decision-making.
- Support the monitoring of Country Programme Document (CPD) indicators and annual work plans.
- Analyze programme performance, results, funding, and partnership indicators.
- Identify trends, gaps, risks, and areas requiring special attention.
- Support the use of digital tools for near real-time monitoring of key indicators.
- Contribute to the analysis of studies, evaluations, and surveys, including the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS).
- Develop advanced data visualization products and interactive storytelling tools to communicate findings effectively.
- Analyze financial and programme data to support planning and performance monitoring.
- Support funding gap analysis and resource utilization assessments.
- Develop and maintain interactive dashboards using Power BI or Tableau.
- Prepare analytical reports, presentations, dashboards, and knowledge products for management and technical teams.
Eligibility criteria
- Applicants must be Algerian nationals, legal residents of Algeria, or individuals holding refugee status in Algeria.
- Applicants must be between 18 and 80 years old.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields:
- Data Analysis
- Statistics
- Monitoring and Evaluation
- Information Management
- Business Intelligence
- Economics
- Data Science
- Or another related field
- Have 1 to 3 years of professional experience in data analysis, monitoring and evaluation, or information management.
- Demonstrate fluency in Arabic and French.
- Working knowledge of English is considered an asset.
- Have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
- Possess experience using Power BI, Tableau, or similar data visualization platforms.
- Knowledge of data analysis programming languages such as R or Python is considered a strong advantage.
- Have a solid understanding of statistical and analytical methodologies.
- Demonstrate experience in preparing analytical reports, dashboards, data visualizations, and other business intelligence products.
