The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has opened applications for a job opportunity in Damascus, Syria, in the field of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

The opportunity targets graduates in Computer Engineering, Computer Science and Informatics, Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology, and related fields. The selected candidate will contribute to the development and delivery of technical and vocational training programs, prepare curricula, lessons, and assessments, integrate modern technologies and digital skills into training, and support efforts to align educational programs with labor market needs.

Duties & responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the design and development of educational and training programs and curricula.
  • Contributing to occupational, competency, and skills analyses within the relevant field.
  • Preparing program profiles, learning guides, and manuals.
  • Evaluating and integrating new and emerging technologies into training specializations.
  • Developing comprehensive lesson and training plans.
  • Managing and facilitating learning in classrooms, laboratories, workshops, and workplaces.
  • Applying adult learning strategies.
  • Supporting the inclusion of trainees with disabilities and special educational needs.
  • Integrating life skills, employability skills, and occupational health and safety into training.
  • Designing theoretical and practical tests and assessments for students.
  • Preparing skills assessment tools and plans.
  • Communicating with employers, workers, and vocational education and training instructors.
  • Using labor market data to improve training programs.
  • Analyzing skills needs and gaps in the labor market.
  • Applying quality assurance tools and procedures in training.
  • Supporting the green and digital transformation of technical and vocational education and training.
  • Designing and delivering digital learning programs, including synchronous and asynchronous training.
  • Collaborating with trainers and faculty members while maintaining an organized and safe learning environment.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must:

  • Hold a four-year university degree from a recognized educational institution.
  • Have a major in one of the following fields:
    • Computer Engineering.
    • Informatics / Computer Science.
    • Artificial Intelligence.
    • Information Technology.
    • Or another related field.
  • No previous work experience is required.
  • Be residing in Syria and live within a reasonable commuting distance of the duty station in Damascus.
  • Hold a valid work permit in Syria at the time of application.
