The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) is offering a job opportunity in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Syria, targeting applicants with technical or vocational education in Mechanical Engineering.

The selected candidate will contribute to the design and implementation of training programs and curricula, prepare lesson plans and assessments, supervise training in classrooms, laboratories, workshops, and workplaces, and support the integration of digital and green skills while aligning training with labor market needs.

Duties & responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the design and development of technical and vocational education and training programs and curricula.
  • Contributing to the analysis of occupations, competencies, and skills within the relevant field.
  • Preparing program profiles, learning guides, and training materials.
  • Integrating modern and emerging technologies into educational programs.
  • Preparing training venues, equipment, and required facilities.
  • Developing comprehensive lesson and training plans.
  • Monitoring learning activities in classrooms, laboratories, workshops, and workplaces.
  • Supporting trainees with disabilities and special educational needs.
  • Integrating occupational health and safety, life skills, and employability skills into training.
  • Preparing theoretical and practical tests and assessments.
  • Collecting and using labor market information to improve programs.
  • Supporting the analysis of skills needs and gaps.
  • Applying quality assurance tools and procedures.
  • Contributing to digital and green transformation initiatives in technical and vocational education and training.
  • Supporting synchronous and asynchronous training.
  • Collaborating with trainers and faculty members while maintaining a safe and organized learning environment.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must:

  • Have completed secondary school.
  • Have completed two years of post-secondary technical education or training in Mechanical Engineering.
  • No previous work experience is required.
  • Be residing in Syria.
  • Live within a reasonable commuting distance of the duty station.
  • Hold a valid work permit in Syria at the time of application.
