Opportunity description

Kaggle is pleased to announce the opening of application for a competition; 2021 Kaggle Machine Learning & Data Science Survey. It launched this year to notebook authors who tell a rich story about a subset of the data science and machine learning community. As a member of the Kaggle community, you are required to dive deep into the survey datasets and help in telling the diverse stories of data scientists from around the world.

Benefits

If you win this competition, you will get one of the following prizes:

  • 1st prize: $10,000.
  • 2nd prize: $5,000.
  • 3rd prize: $5,000.
  • 4th prize: $5,000.
  • 5th prize: $5,000.
  • Kaggle will also give a Notebook Award of $1,000 to recognize the favorite notebook that gets published prior to Sunday, November 7th.

Eligibility criteria

You should follow the following terms:

  • You must be: 
  • a registered account holder at Kaggle.com.
  • the older of 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction of residence.
  •  not a resident of Crimea, Cuba, Iran, Syria, or North Korea.
  •  not a person or representative of an entity under U.S. export controls or sanctions.
  • You are free to use any datasets in addition to the Kaggle Data Science survey.
  • Only one submission will be judged per participant, so if you make multiple submissions, the last will be reviewed (most recent) entry.
  • You cannot sign up to Kaggle from multiple accounts. 
  • The maximum team size is 5.
  • Privately sharing code or data outside of teams is not permitted.
  • Individual participants and teams may use automated machine learning tools (e.g., Google AutoML, H2O Driverless AI, etc.) to create a Submission, provided that the participant or Team ensures that they have an appropriate license to the AMLT.
  • A submission must be contained in one notebook, made public on or before the submission deadline.

Timeline:

  • Submission deadline: November 28th, 2021.
  • Winners announced: December 16th, 2021.

Evaluation Process:

Your work will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  1. Composition: Is there a clear narrative thread to the story that’s articulated and supported by data? 
  2. Originality: A great entry will be informative, thought-provoking, and fresh all at the same time.
  3. Documentation: Are your code and notebook, and additional data sources well documented so a reader can understand what you did?
